Over coal India GM’s misconduct Gorkha union held mass protest

Guwahati: Members of the All Assam Gorkha Students Union (AAGSU) staged a significant protest today in front of the office of General Manager K. Marey of NEC Coal India Ltd. (NEC CIL) Margherita.

The protest comes in response to allegations that Marey insulted and mistreated a delegation of AAGSU representatives.

The demonstration began this morning after a delegation from the AAGSU Tinsukia District and Margherita Regional Committees attempted to submit a memorandum to Marey.

The memorandum addressed concerns over illegal coal dumping at Jharna Basti, Ledo. According to the AAGSU, Marey responded to the delegation with disrespect and misconduct.

Over a hundred AAGSU members are participating in the protest, which is ongoing despite torrential rainfall in Margherita.
