Imphal: The BJP-led governments at the Center and Manipur on Monday came under fire from the opposition Congress party.
Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) Vice President Harishwor Goswami while talking to mediapersons at Congress Bhavan, Imphal asked what the BJP-led governments have done so far for Manipur’s significant progress. What is specifically in the border dispute with neighboring Myanmar?
The Congress leader also asked the Union Minister of State for Home Affairs and Education Rajkumar Ranjan Singh what great feat he has done for the people after becoming the Union Minister.
Congress’ questions came a day after R K Ranjam began campaigning for the 2024 Lok Sabha polls in the Khundrakpam assembly constituency on Sunday.
R K Ranjan is a member of the Lok Sabha from Manipur constituency.
In response to a question posed by a journalist, Harishwor Goswami said that when R K Ranjan was the editor of a journal, the Regional Institute, he had written about the border disputes between Manipur and Myanmar on border pillars 64 to 68. Wrote about.
The strange thing is that while he is heading the affairs of the central government, no meaningful border settlement has been achieved so far in this area.
The Congress leader said that if he has the capacity, it is time to resolve the border dispute with Myanmar on his initiative.
The opposition Congress also accused the BJP-led governments of allowing fencing along disputed border areas.
The new construction of border fencing is reducing the area of Manipur considerably.
This must be stopped, the VP said, adding that the border dispute would be settled first and then fencing of the unsecured borders would continue for peaceful coexistence with neighboring Myanmar.
