Over 4585 houses affected as Cyclonic storm hits part of Tripura

Agartala: Tripura is reeling as a cyclonic storm accompanied by strong winds hit the state, damaging more than 4,585 houses, according to a report by the State Emergency Operations Centre.
South Tripura and Sepahijala districts were hit by this calamity.
23 houses were destroyed due to the impact of the storm, while 215 houses were severely damaged, and 4345 houses were partially damaged across the state.
40 houses were demolished in Unakoti district and 2881 houses were damaged in Sepahijala district. Apart from this, 168 houses were affected in Dhalai district, 139 in West district, 95 in Khowai, 51 in Gomati and 1211 in South district.

An official from the State Emergency Operation Centre disclosed that an initial financial assistance of Rs 1.10 lakh has been disbursed.

Despite the devastation, the official reassured that all rivers in the state are currently flowing below flood levels.

The Meteorological Department has issued warnings of further adverse weather conditions, forecasting light to moderate rain and thundershowers across all districts of Tripura.

Additionally, there is a cautionary alert for thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds, with speeds reaching 30-40 kmph, likely to affect isolated areas in the state.
