One killed four injured in blast at Oil India Limited (OIL) pipeline
Guwahati: An explosion during the repair of an Oil India Limited (OIL) pipeline in Dibrugarh district, Assam, resulted in the death of one contractual worker while four of his co-workers suffered injuries. The incident occurred in Duliajan township.
The deceased was identified as Robin Orang. Three of the injured persons are regular employees of Oil India. The blast occurred while a valve on the new pipeline was being repaired, causing sudden pressure.
Two of the injured have been shifted to Assam Medical College and Hospital in Dibrugarh for advanced treatment, while the remaining two are receiving care at OIL Hospital in Duliajan.
This incident follows a previous one at Baghjan, where an OIL gas well caught fire in June 2020 after uncontrollably spewing gas for 173 days, resulting in three fatalities. The fire was extinguished on November 15, with the well abandoned on December 3, following a multi-agency effort.
