On World Water Day 2023 Bike rally held around Loktak lake

Imphal: Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh flagged off a bike rally on water conservation as part of “World Water Day 2023” which was celebrated under the theme of rapid change.

It was organized by Public Health Engineering Department at Khuman Lampak in Imphal on Wednesday.

The rally ended at Sandra, a part of Loktak lake in Manipur’s Bishnupur district.
A total of 100 riders participated in the rally which circled Loktak.

Speaking on the occasion, CM N Biren Singh urged people to take out rallies in the hills where massive deforestation is taking place and create awareness among the villagers about the importance of trees, and among them Create a sense of ownership of forest cover.
Talking about the implementation of Prime Minister’s Har Ghar Jal Mission in the state, the Chief Minister said that about 75 percent of the pipe laying work has been completed but if there is no source of water, it is of no use.
They encouraged people to plant more trees and also developed small tree cover in valley areas.

Highlighting the filling of ponds and other water bodies for the construction of community halls, the Chief Minister urged people not to collect water bodies.
