Dimapur: A video circulating on social media showing hunting shoes being provided to police personnel in Nagaland has caught the attention of the state government.
Expressing concern over the video of substandard shoes being provided to police personnel, Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton, who also holds the home portfolio, asked state police chief Rupin Sharma to verify its authenticity and appropriate Take action.
Taking to his Twitter handle, Peyton said: “Disturbed by this video showing poor quality footwear provided to Nagaland Police personnel. Urging @DGP_Nagaland to verify its authenticity. Confirm and take appropriate action.
He said that ensuring the welfare and safety of our forces is paramount.
A circulated video purportedly recorded by a Nagaland Police official shows a new pair of hunting boots provided to him can be easily torn apart with bare hands.
In the video, the police officers are shown saying that they have to do their duty day and night wearing these types of shoes. He said that while the upper part of the shoe looks fine, the lower part is easily broken.
DGP Sharma could not be reached for comment on the matter.
