Agartala: Counting of votes for the 60-member Tripura Assembly will begin at 8 am on March 2.Tripura Chief Electoral Officer Kiran Gitte said on Tuesday that in the first phase postal ballots will be opened for counting which will continue till 8.30 am, and in the next phase EVMs will be opened for counting.
The senior official was talking to mediapersons after inspecting the strong room at Umakanta Academy where the counting of 14 assembly constituencies of West Tripura district is going to take place.
“Counting centers have been set up at 21 locations across the state. All the returning officers are finalizing the arrangements for the counting rooms.
“There are a total of 23 sub-divisions and for each sub-division, a counting center has been set up, apart from Mohanpur and Jirania sub-divisions. These two sub-divisions are tagged with Sadar district,” he said.
“Umakanta Academy School has two buildings. The new building and the old building. The assembly constituencies are divided into these two main structures. One building will have nine seats while the other five seats are allotted,” the Chief Electoral Officer said. said
Asked about other arrangements, he said, “The counting observers will reach Agartala on Tuesday. Each counting table has been designed in such a way that a micro-observer who will be an employee of the central government will conduct the counting. Counting observers will take charge one day before counting.
Apart from this, adequate seating arrangements have been made for counting agents, candidates and other stakeholders who are equally important for the successful completion of the process.
Stressing on the transparency of the counting process, the CEO said that to clear doubts, five randomly selected VVPATs will also be opened to compare their count with the EVM results. can go.
