Imphal: The Nupi Samaj in Imphal on Friday criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for failing to resolve the ongoing crisis in Manipur that has been affecting people of all communities in the state for nearly three months.
“He had sympathy for two women but where is his sympathy for the suffering of the entire state?” asked the Nupi Samaj.
Speaking to the media in Imphal, Nupi Samaj president Th Ramani strongly condemned the unnecessary action against the two women and demanded the authorities to give befitting punishment to the culprits involved.
She also reminded the Prime Minister that many other women, children and people have been suffering for almost three months across the state and questioned why Modi failed to acknowledge their plight.
Two women are not the whole picture of the crisis. She added that many cases of inhumane crimes committed during the crisis are still unaccounted for.
She thus questioned whether the Prime Minister had any sympathy for any of these crimes and asked whether his concern for Manipur was over.
She accused the government of taking biased security measures and painting the Matti community in a bad light to tarnish the image of the community.
“Gunfights are still going on in the peripheral areas. At this juncture, the Prime Minister should not forget that eventually ‘karma’ will come to bite his partisan actions,” she said.
Members ofEreipak Enat Chanura Loinasillon and All Manipur Tami Chingmee Nupi Lup were also present at the press conference.
