On Manipur clashes MPYCC urges CM to go Delhi, speak on issue

Aizawl: The Mizoram Congress youth wing on Monday urged Chief Minister Zoramthanga to attend a meeting called by the NDA in Delhi on Tuesday and raise voice against the Centre’s silence on the ongoing communal violence in Manipur.
In a press statement issued on Monday, the Mizoram Pradesh Youth Congress Committee (MPYCC) asked Zoramthanga to condemn atrocities against the Kuki community in the violence-torn neighboring state.
“We demand that the Chief Minister attends the NDA meeting and to control the violence even after such miseries of the Kuki community in Manipur and the burning of more than 250 churches,” the statement said. Strongly condemn the NDA government for not taking any steps.
The MPYCC also asked Zoramthanga to urge the Prime Minister to take steps to restore peace in Manipur.
It said that the Chief Minister should also question the role of the RSS in the ongoing violence.
Meanwhile, the state home department said the influx of people from Manipur continues and 12,512 people have taken shelter in different parts of the state.
It said that out of 12,512 internally displaced people, 4,430 people have taken shelter in Assam’s border district of Kolasib, 4,238 in Aizawl district and 2,940 in Manipur’s border district of Situl. The remaining 904 took shelter in Champhai, Khawazawl, Serchhip, Mamit, Lunglei, Hnahthial, Siaha and Lawngtlai districts.
The government and village authorities have established 37 relief camps and 2,764 live in the relief camps, while the remaining 9,748 live outside the relief camps.
