On Lok Sabha elections boycott, ENPO reaffirmed its commitment
Kohima: The Eastern Nagaland People’s Organization (ENPO) has reiterated its resolve to boycott the Lok Sabha elections, protesting against the unfulfilled demands of the frontier Nagaland territory.
The decision was upheld after a comprehensive meeting at CKS Hall Tuensang HQ which included members of the Eastern Nagaland Legislature Union and Rajya Sabha MPs.
ENPO President R. Tsapikiu Sangtam said that the Chenmoho resolution to boycott the state and central elections set for February 23 still stands.
During the meeting, ENLU appealed to ENPO to reconsider its election boycott decision, however, no changes were made.
Sangtam clarified that the meeting served as a ‘coordination meeting’, and acknowledged the communication gap that already existed between ENPO, ENLU and the public, which has now been resolved.
The state of public emergency will continue in the eastern region, as mentioned by Sangtam.
A meeting between Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and Union Home Minister Amit Shah earlier this year also discussed the draft proposal, however, no additional details were disclosed.
