Aizawl: Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga has condemned the incident of two Kuki women being paraded naked by a mob of unruly Metiei men in Manipur.
“I am really shocked and shocked to see the video that went viral. The shocking video of rape of two of our Vaiphei women in Manipur is brutal, heartless, disgusting, despicable and totally inhumane! The whole region needs a permanent solution to this great problem of Manipur,” said Mizoram Chief Minister Zoramthanga.
“Lots of lives have been lost, bloodshed everywhere, physical torture and victims seeking shelter wherever possible. There is no doubt that those victims are my relatives, my own blood and should we just keep quiet and let the situation go by? I don’t think so,” said Mizoram CM Zoramthanga.
He added: “Silence is not an option.”
The Mizoram Chief Minister added: “I want to demand immediate restoration of peace and normalcy. It is incumbent and imperative on the Manipur government. And the central government to find immediate ways to restore peace.”
It is worth mentioning here that the BJP governments – both at the Center and in Manipur – have been pushed to the brink after a viral video surfaced on social media showing two kuki women being paraded naked by a crowd of rude Meitei men.
The heartbreaking incident took place on May 4 in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district.
