On healthcare and water issues CPIM calls for an urgent action
Agartala: The Tripura state secretariat body of CPIM has urged the state government to take immediate action to resolve the pressing issues faced by the people.
In a statement, the CPIM state secretariat highlighted the need for health camps in malaria-affected areas and provision of clean drinking water in rural areas, where water scarcity has become a serious crisis.
The party also stressed the importance of creating employment opportunities through the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA).
According to the statement, lack of work and income has resulted in malnutrition, starvation and rapid spread of malaria throughout the state. Tribal areas, especially those bordering Bangladesh, are seeing a significant increase in malaria cases.
Additionally, water-borne diseases are spreading in these regions, and local primary care centers are running out of essential medicines. As a result, patients are being referred to sub-divisional or district hospitals, but lack of ambulances is a challenge for the economically disadvantaged who cannot afford private transport.
The CPI(M) state secretariat body also highlighted the dire shortage of drinking water faced by people living in remote areas. In the absence of alternative sources, residents are forced to drink tap water, leading to water-borne diseases.
The statement emphasized the urgent need for health camps in malaria-prone areas and adequate supply of essential medicines in hospitals.
Additionally, he called for daily supply of drinking water through water tankers in areas where it is not easily accessible.
The party also stressed the importance of creating ample employment opportunities through MNREGA and other development initiatives in all regions.
The CPI(M) state secretariat body has drawn the attention of the state government to these critical issues and urged for immediate action to tackle the health care and water crisis faced by the people of Tripura.
