Silchar: A BJP leader has been arrested in Assam’s Hailakandi district for allegedly taking ‘extortion’ from locals on the pretext of providing government jobs.
The Assam BJP leader arrested on Thursday has been identified as Ansarul Hoque Choudhary.
Ansarul Hoque Choudhary is reportedly an executive member of the Assam BJP Minority Front.
Assam BJP ruler Ansarul Hoque Choudhary was arrested a week after another party leader Moon Ingtipi was arrested on similar charges.
BJP leader Moon Ingtipi was arrested on May 25 in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district on charges of cheating.
Ingtipi was the secretary of Kisan Morcha of BJP in Karbi Anglong district of Assam.
Ingtippi allegedly extorted money from the victims using the names of Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma and KAAC CM Tuliram Ronghang.
