
To probe Manipur violence CBI registers 6 cases, SIT formed
Guwahati: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case against officials of the Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC) and others for alleged corruption, a CBI release statement on Thursday.
The probe agency registered a case against the former ONGC DGM and others for causing damages of Rs 19.15 lakh.
The case was registered with the owner of a Jorhat-based private company in connection with certain financial irregularities which prepared requisition slips for physiotherapy in the name of retired beneficiaries of ONGC health facilities and their dependents.
According to information, former ONGC Deputy General Manager (DGM) Dr. Bijoy Kar. Shaw along with Dr. Eashitva Tamuly, Contract Medical Officer, Occupational Health, ONGC, Jorhat and Jadumoni Hazarika, owner of Kiran Physiotherapy Clinic, Cinamara, Jorhat, fraudulently issued requisition slips for physiotherapy treatment in the name of beneficiaries from ONG.
Moreover, they also prepared fake requisition slips in the name of beneficiaries of ONGC which were expired.
In this regard, the CBI conducted raids at several places in Assam, including Guwahati, on Tuesday.
Sources said that the CBI raided the house of former ONGC Deputy General Manager (DGM) Dr Bijoykar. Shaw in Guwahati and Sivasagar in Assam. Dr. Shaw is an Orthopedist at ONGC Hospital in Sivasagar.
During the search, the investigating agency found assets worth Rs 20 crore of DGM Dr Bijoy Shaw, including seven houses and flats suspected to have been accumulated through corruption.
Assets were recovered in Guwahati during the raid.
The CBI team also launched a search operation at the business premises of Dr. Eashitiva Tamuly in Jorhat.
In connection with this case, the team also raided Dehradun in Uttarakhand. Apart from this, investigation is also going on in this matter.
