Imphal: Members of the All Manipur Bar Association Football Club (AMBA FC) gathered at Cherap Court Complex, Uripok on November 2 and observed a two-minute silence to pay their respects and remember Chingtham Anand Kumar.
The respected police officer and veteran footballer passed away untimely on October 31, 2023.
Chingtham Anand Kumar, son of Sri Chaudhry. Kunjabihari Hailing from Kwakeitel Moirangpurel, Imphal West, Kunjabihari was not only known for his outstanding service as a Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) in Moreh but also for his exceptional skills on the football field.
He was a favorite member of the All Manipur Bar Association Football Club and had the honor of being a part of the Indian Lawyers Football Federation (ILFF) and the All India Veterans Football Federation (AIVFF).
The incident took place at The Eastern Shine School Ground, which is located just 1.5 km from Mora Police Station.
Chingtham Anand Kumar, known for his goal-scoring skills, was brutally murdered by a suspected Kuki militant group using sophisticated weapons.
In a solemn statement, the president of All Manipur Bar Association Football Club said, “We express our deep sorrow at the loss of our esteemed colleague and fellow footballer, Sri Chingtham Anand Kumar.
His commitment to the service of the law and his prowess on the football field were testament to his outstanding character.
We offer our condolences to his bereaved family and hope he rests in eternal peace.”
