GUWAHATI: President Droupadi Murmu took a jeep safari inside the central range of Kaziranga National Park on Friday morning, on the second day of her visit to Assam, officials said.
She said she went into the park from Mihimukh Point and saw one-horned rhinoceros, wild buffalo, deer and birds, among other animals.
Murmu also fed the elephants inside the park.
The President of the Republic is scheduled to inaugurate the two-day ‘Gaj Utsav-2023’ (Elephant Festival) at the Kaziranga National Park High School playground on Friday.
Assam Governor Gulab Chand Kataria and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will be among those present on the occasion, officials said.
Murmu will leave for Guwahati on Friday afternoon where she will flag off the Mount Kanchenjunga Campaign-2023 and attend the Platinum Jubilee celebrations of the Guwahati High Court in the evening.
On Saturday, she will board a Sukhoi 30 MKI fighter jet at Air Force Station in Tezpur, before departing for Delhi.
The President arrived in Assam on a three-day visit on Thursday.
