Imphal: Fresh violence was reported on Thursday morning from near Churachandpur district of Manipur.
Incidents of violence were reported from Molngat village near Kangvai in Manipur’s Churachandpur district.
According to reports, the firing incident took place when miscreants allegedly opened fire after a clash between two communities.
The latest round of violence reportedly started around 8 am on Thursday in Manipur’s Churachandpur district.
Incidents of arson have also reportedly taken place in the area, some of which have been set on fire by miscreants.
Meanwhile, security forces reached the spot and brought the situation under control.
It may be mentioned here that Manipur was rocked by massive violence last week, with local communities – mainly Kukis – protesting against the demand for tribal status for Meiteis in the state.
At least 60 people were killed and more than 30,000 displaced in Manipur due to widespread violence.
A total of 128 columns or about 10,000 troops of Indian Army and Assam Rifles continued the flag march in the affected areas of Manipur.
A defense statement said, “The Indian Army, along with the Assam Rifles, has significantly revamped its security infrastructure and deployed enormous resources, particularly in the backdrop of the current security situation in Manipur. has been used.”
