NSCN(U) Freedom Fighter
Guwahati: NSCN(U) Freedom Fighter belonging to the unification faction of the Naga rebel outfit NSCN surrendered to the Assam Rifles in Ukhrul district of Manipur.
Four Chinese hand grenades have been handed over to the Assam Rifles by the surrendering rebels, an official said.
He also had a pair of uniforms, the Assam Rifles said in a statement on Saturday.
The statement added that the NSCN (U) leader surrendered before the Somsai Battalion in Ukhrul district in the presence of the Manipur Police at Somsai on Friday.
He added that the security forces congratulated the cadre for his decision and wished that all those who chose the wrong path would return to the mainstream and lead a happy and peaceful life.
After surrendering, the cadre expressed his willingness to join the mainstream and lead a peaceful life, the official said.
The NSCN (U) was formed on 23 November 2007 with an inter-factional agreement between a few cadres and leaders of the NSCN (IM) and the rival Khaplang faction of the NSCN at Hovishe under Niuland sub-division Dimapur Dist
