Kohima: The NSCN (R) has set up a five-member inquiry committee to get into the ‘bottom of the case’ to what it termed as the “recent unfortunate incident at Zunheboto involving its cadres and the subsequent public outcry.”
The committee will conduct a free, fair and impartial probe without any prejudices and submits its findings to the collective leaders within a period of 15 days, stated a press release from the MIP, NSCN (R).
“All necessary and disciplinary action will be initiated as per the findings of the reports,” it further assured urging the Naga people and in particular the residents of Zunheboto to remain calm and have faith in the inquiry committee.
The committee was formed during an emergency meeting of the NSCN (R) led by its President Y.Wangin Naga and Ato-Kilonser P Tikhak on August 3 in Dimapur
During the meeting chaired by the Kilo Kilonser Kavishe Zhimomi, the leaders vehemently condemned violence in “any manner, name, style and form” is unacceptable and stated that it is against the basic principles of the NSCN (R), the release informed.
The Naga society needs more of healing, unity and brotherhood at this crucial time and the NSCN/GPRN will do everything within its capacity to achieve it and stop such violence from repetition, it added.
Consequently, the NSCN (R) decided to form the committee and submits its findings to the collective leaders within a period of 15 days, the release said.
As per reports, the youth was allegedly assaulted by members of NSCN (R) on August 2. Several Zunheboto-based organisations have condemned the incident and also resolved to ban “functionaries of the NSCN (R)” in Zunheboto district, to prevent such incident in future.
