Tinsukia: Security forces have arrested a cadre of the NSCN (K-YA) faction in Longding district of Arunachal Pradesh, a senior police officer said on Thursday.
A senior police officer said the arrested cadre has been identified as self-proclaimed Corporal Lonpho Gangsa of NSCN’s K-YA faction who hails from Langui village in Myanmar.
Based on specific information about the presence of two NSCN (K-YA) cadres near Waka village, the Assam Rifles and Arunachal Police forces launched a joint operation, the police officer said.
“The movement of the cadres was reported when they were moving from a village to a town area and they were intercepted. One of them, who had infiltrated into India, was arrested while the other The cadre managed to escape under the cover of darkness,” he said.
Security forces have recovered a pistol, a Chinese grenade, extortion notes and some random documents from the Naga militant.
“He had entered India for extortion,” the official added.
