Dimapur: NSCN-IM General Secretary Th Muivah said on Monday (August 14) that the Government of India (GoI) has officially recognized the issue of integration of all Naga areas as a legitimate right of Nagas and its It will be finalized accordingly.
Addressing the 77th “Naga Independence Day” celebrations at the NSCN-IM Council headquarters in Hebron, Nagaland, Mayowa said that after 18 years of political dialogue, the Government of India and the National Socialist Council of Nagalam (NSCN) Finally signed the historical framework. On August 3, 2015, an agreement was reached on the basis of recognition of the unique history and sovereignty of the Nagas and the shared sovereignty and coexistence of the two entities.
Asserting that the NSCN-IM is the one and only authentic political organization of the Naga people, he said the accord was a mutually agreed official document.

“This framework agreement is our legacy. We must defend what we have earned with our sweat and blood,” Muivah stressed.
On a separate Naga flag and constitution, Muivah, who is leading the NSCN-IM in talks with the Indian government, said these are “naturally inseparable” from the people’s sovereignty.
“It is a universally recognized truth that flag and constitution are part of sovereignty. There is no ambiguity about it. Indian leaders also understand this. They should take a stand to speak the truth,” he added.

Muivah added that the Nagas are proud of their dynamic leaders of the past, who “took the right decision to declare Naga national independence on August 14, 1947, on the occasion of British withdrawal from British India”.
“It was a historic step which gave new meaning to Naga national identity and saved the future of Nagas,” he said.

“The heart of the matter is that the Nagas are a sovereign people, living in their own land since time immemorial,” he said.

Muivah reiterated that the Naga National Resistance Movement is about the inherent right of the Nagas to self-determination and the defense of their land.
