Shillong: NSCN-IM : No documentary evidence to say Naga talks concluded. The leadership of the banned Hynniewtrep National Liberation Council (HNLC) will be given safe passage inside Meghalaya to join the peace talks.
No documentary evidence to say Naga talks concluded. This information was given by HNLC’s representative for peace talks, Sadun Billah, on Tuesday.
An agreement has been reached by the central government, the state government and the HNLC specifically regarding the safe passage that HNLC leaders who are going to join the peace process can come and go and keep themselves inside the area of Meghalaya,” said Sadun Bulla.
Blah said HNLC leaders have been given safe passage inside Meghalaya so that they can directly interact with representatives of the central and Meghalaya governments.
Blah said that this move will speed up the peace process.
However, Blah refused to comment on the issue of ceasefire between the HNLC and the government, saying it would not be appropriate to discuss the matter at this time.
Earlier, the Meghalaya government had appointed retired IAS officer Peter S. Dakhar as the interlocutor for peace talks with the HNLC.
Later, the HNLC appointed Sadon K Blah, President of the Hynniewtrep National Youth Front (HNYF) to represent the organization.
