NSCN (IM) claims that Indian army aiding People's Defence Force

Imphal: Indian armed forces and Assam Rifles have been heavily deployed across the border and Kuki militants have been “armed” with drones, artillery and other sophisticated weapons, claimed NSCN (IM) even as it accused the Indian Government of waging a proxy war to overthrow the Junta Government in Myanmar.

While the Indian troops are aiding the militia, NSCN (IM) said its cadres have been abducted and tortured to death by the KNA (B) .

The KNA(B)-Kuki National Army (Burma) is one of the militias that has collaborated with the PDF (People’s Defence Force), which the NSCN (IM) particularly claims is being aided by the US and Indian Government to overthrow the Myanmar Junta.

In a statement issued today, the NSCN (IM) said the political upheaval in Myanmar and the burgeoning ethnic violence in Manipur are absolutely two different things and therefore they cannot be observed through the same lens.

The present violence in Manipur is between two communities and the NSCN (IM) is not a party to one or the other, it said.

The conflict in Myanmar, on the other hand is primarily a pro-democratic revolution against the military Junta that has been in place since 2021, but its geo-political impact cannot be overlooked, said the NSCN (IM), stating it has been monitoring the situation affecting Nagas under the “aggravating circumstances” .

It claimed that the United States and the Indian Government “aiding” the militia called PDF (People’s Defence Force) to overthrow the Junta Government in Myanmar is now an open secret.

“As far as the conflict in Myanmar is concerned, we are not indifferent to the ethnic communities and their movement in particular.

We have no issue against the PDF of Chin State and other areas,” it said.

While the NSCN (IM) is aware of and has no objection to the KNA (B) collaborating with the PDF in the Chin State, it is “very unfortunate” that the KNA (B) has taken inimical stance against the NSCN, deliberately targeting the Naga Army operating in the area, it said.

“In an inhumane and unprofessional manner, they had abducted and tortured to death some of our cadres, as per confirmed source,” said the NSCN (IM) .

In all these, the NSCN (IM) said “the sinister hands of the Indian Intelligence-RAW has become “obvious”‘ .

At the instigation of RAW, troops of paramilitary forces and Assam Rifles were pumped across the border and Kuki militants have been “armed with drones, artillery and other sophisticated weapons,” it claimed.

This again exposes the “double-standard” which characterises India’s foreign policy.

In earlier instances, the Indian Army had helped the Tatmadaw (Myanmar Army) in destroying “our base camps” in the border areas, but now they are at loggerheads, it said.

“One may wonder what India has to gain by waging this proxy war.

It is left to the wisdom of her advisors to discern for themselves what India might lose out of this misadventure,” it added.
