Now, BJP MP says Assam to submit ‘application’ for airport in Cachar

Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has asked the Assam government to make a “principled request” in the prescribed form for setting up a greenfield airport in Cachar, BJP MP Rajdeep Roy said on Friday.

The state government will apply in a few days and after all the formalities, the airport will be built within three years, said Roy, a local MP.He said that Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma had written to Scindia on June 12 about completion of land acquisition for the airport, after which the Union Minister on Thursday asked the state government to make a “request in principle”. Roy read out the two letters at a press conference in Silchar, the district headquarters of Cachar.
