Imphal: The Indigenous Tribal Leaders’ Forum (ITLF) strongly opposes the recent “No Work No Pay” circular issued by the Government of Manipur.
In a press release, the ITLF alleged that the order demanding attendance of government employees at the place of posting was unrealistic, insensitive and
rudeness.
“Tribal communities, who are a part of the workforce of the state government, have been subjected to inhumane treatment and hunted like animals in the Imphal Valley and elsewhere since May 3, 2023. Their homes, properties, personal documents and belongings have been confiscated. have been looted. and burned, leaving them with no means of returning to work or their residences,” the release noted.
Further, the tribal body in its release claimed that it is completely insensitive for the Meitei-based state government of Manipur that these traumatized persons or their families would resume their duties in an environment where their Safety and well-being cannot be guaranteed.
The ITLF also demanded immediate steps from the central government in New Delhi for justice, protection and rehabilitation of the affected tribal communities and urged the Center to ask the state administration to withdraw its “no work no pay”. Give advice. Immediately circular.
Earlier, the Biren Singh-led government decided to implement the “no work, no pay” rule for its employees who are not going to office.
The General Administration Department (GAD) has been asked to provide the details of the employees who are unable to attend their official work due to the prevailing situation in the state.
A circular issued by GAD Secretary Michael Achome said: “Following the meeting chaired by the Chief Minister on June 12 and decided on paras 5-(12) of the proceedings, all employees who have received their salaries from the General Administration Department, Manipur Secretariat is informed that no work or any payment shall be made to all employees who do not attend their official duties without permission.”
