New Chairman of Arunachal Public Service Commission appointed

Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (retd) BD Mishra has appointed Lt Gen (retd) Shantanu Dayal as the new Chairman of Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC).

Dayal, former Deputy Chief of Army Staff (Capacity Development and Sustenance) will replace Nipo Nabam who resigned in October last year over the paper leak scandal.
Apart from filling the vacant post of Chairman, the Governor has also appointed three new persons โ€“ Col (retd) Koj Tari, Pradip Lingfa and Rosy Taba as members of APPSC.

An official press release said that all the appointments were made under clause (1) of Article 316 of the Constitution of India, read with clause 4 of the Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission Regulations, 1988.
APPSC consists of a Chairman and 4 members as per Arunachal Pradesh Public Service Commission Regulations, 1988.

Advertisement was issued against the vacancies on 21 November 2022 after which the Government received 18 applications for the post of Chairman and the post of Members.
A high-level screening committee constituted by the state government had recommended a panel of names for consideration in its meeting held on January 12, 2023.
