Shillong: All the culprits involved in stripping, parading and raping women in violence-hit Manipur should be arrested and punished severely, the North-East Students’ Organisation (NESO), an umbrella body of student organizations in northeastern states, said on Friday.
NESO Chairman Samuel B Jyrwa urged the various indigenous communities of Manipur to maintain brotherhood and peace to further strengthen the generation-old relationship.
“All the criminals involved in stripping, parading and raping women in violence-hit Manipur should be arrested and punished severely,” Jyrwa told PTI.
“The fact that these women had to endure the ordeal and humiliation in the most despicable manner is enough to send shivers down the spine of every right-thinking person,” he said.
Terming the attack on women as “outrageous, barbaric and inhumane”, the NESO chair said the crimes were “unacceptable in a civilized society”.
