Kathmandu: The Nepal government on Sunday named new heads of the nation’s police and paramilitary powers, a senior authority said.

In a Cabinet meeting, Additional Inspector General (AIG) Dhiraj Pratap Singh was selected the 29th Inspector General of the Nepal Police.

Singh is the third senior-most official in the police division after Bishwa Raj Pokharel and Sahakul Thapa, who were likewise in the race for the new post.

The public authority likewise delegated Additional Inspector General Raju Aryal to the post of Inspector General of the Armed Police Force (APF), the country’s paramilitary power, the authority said.

Aryal was advanced as the Additional Inspector General of the APF barely a week ago, while Singh was delegated to the post of AIG on March 31 this year.

The new head of police was delegated as officeholder IGP Shailesh Thapa Chhetri resigned on Sunday subsequent to finishing 30 years of administration.
