Kohima: MB Neokpao Konyak and Alezo Venuh reiterated their claim to the GPRN/NSCN. “There exist only one GPRN/NSCN (Unification) government under the collective leadership of Gen (retired) MB Neokpao Konyak, President and Alezo Venuh, Ato Kilonser,” stated the GPRN/NSCN (U)’s Ministry of Information and Publicity in press release issued on June 9.
According to it, the clarification was necessitated in light of what it said was misrepresentation and misuse of its nomenclature by a “section of people” following the recent “Change of Guard.” It called for public vigilance it asked the public not to entertain any group or entity masquerading as the GPRN/NSCN (Unification) other than the one led by Neokpao and Alezo.
It said that the formation of the GPRN/NSCN was the result of likeminded national workers from the NSCN (IM) and NSCN (Khaplang) coming together under one banner, in the year 2007, “in a quest for a single unified Naga national government,” in consonance with the Naga people’s call for unification. From then on, it said that the word ‘Unification’ became synonymous with the GPRN/NSCN.
In a separate release, the MIP said that the Caretakers of the GPRN/NSCN’s Sumi and Lotha Regions—Kilonsers Hokishe Zhimomi and Mhondamo Ngullie, has informed the people of Zunheboto and Wokha districts against entertaining anyone claiming to be of the GPRN/NSCN (U) other than those authorised by Neokpao-Alezo. “Any activity whatsoever, carried out under the guise and impersonation of GPRN/NSCN (U) nomenclature by anyone will be sternly dealt with as deemed necessary,” it said.
