NEOG Basketball: Sikkim win their first gold, Mizoram take men’s title

Shillong: Sikkim won its first gold medal of the second North East Olympic Games 2022 by defeating hosts Meghalaya in the final of the women’s NEOG Basketball event at the NEIGRIHMS Indoor Basketball Court here on Tuesday.

Sikkim took the final 86 points to Meghalaya’s 67 in front of a huge home crowd.
Meanwhile, earlier in the men’s final, Assam missed out on the title match as Mizoram was ahead. Mizoram was thus awarded the gold medal, while Nagaland, who defeated Manipur 80-68 in the morning in the third-place playoff, bagged the silver, and Manipur bagged the bronze.
Mizoram beat Nagaland 63-55 to clinch the women’s bronze medal.

Meghalaya Chief Minister Konrad K. Sangma was the chief guest at the women’s final and prize distribution ceremony.
