Imphal: A man was found dead with multiple bullet wounds on his torso along the International Border (IB) with Myanmar near Moreh in Manipur.
This was reported by official sources on Wednesday (August 23).
In addition to the bullet wounds on his body, the man also had multiple stab wounds on his neck.
Sources said his body was found on the banks of the river between Lokchao (India) and Maklang (Myanmar), which is a tributary of Myanmar’s Chinwin (Ningthi in Manipuri) river on Tuesday.
The body of the deceased was recovered by the Myanmar police on Wednesday.
Sources added that the identity of the deceased – whether he is an Indian national or a Myanmar national – is yet to be ascertained.
The brutal and ‘unprecedented’ incident along the India-Myanmar border has prompted Indian security forces to issue a “high alert”.
Indian authorities have also sought cooperation from their counterparts in Myanmar to get more details of the deceased as soon as possible.
