NE Olympics: Assam will take on Nagaland in the basketball semi-finals.

Shillong: The quarterfinals of both the men’s and women’s basketball events at the 2nd NE Olympics Games 2022 were held at the NEIGRIHMS Indoor Basketball Court here on Sunday.

Nagaland and Mizoram are the only two states to have both their men’s and women’s teams reach the last four stage, but interestingly, five of the remaining six states also fielded at least one team in the semi-finals, only Tripura. He failed to make a place in it.
In the women’s category, Nagaland defeated Arunachal Pradesh 40-32 in an early morning match while hosts Meghalaya recorded a strong 68-23 result against Assam. Mizoram were then involved in a very close contest with Manipur but Sikkim outplayed their opponents by 60 points to 55 before creating an 87-12 rout against Tripura.

In the men’s quarterfinals, Mizoram defeated Sikkim 89-60 while Manipur defeated Meghalaya 82-69. The Assam men then beat Arunachal by 50 points, 94-44, but the highest-scoring match was saved till the end when Nagaland defeated Tripura by 109 points to 85.
All semi-finals will be played on Monday. In the women’s category, Nagaland will take on Meghalaya at 10 am and Mizoram will take on Sikkim at 1 pm.

The first men’s semi-final will be between Mizoram and Manipur at 11:30 am followed by Assam vs Nagaland at 2:30 pm.
