KOHIMA: The Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP), led by outgoing Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, along with its pre-poll ally Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 60 seats. out of a total of 37 seats that they contested recently. Election
The two major parties contested on a 40:20 seat-sharing formula.
The NDPP, which won 18 seats in the last election, increased its tally to 25 in the recent elections. Meanwhile, the BJP again maintained its previous record by winning 12 seats.
The Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) won seven of the 12 seats, while the National People’s Party (NPP) won five of the 12 contested seats.
The Naga People’s Front (NPF) party contested 22 seats but managed to win only 2 seats in the recent elections, compared to the 26 seats it won in the last polls.
Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) won 2 out of 16 seats.
The Republican Party of India (RPI-A) led by Ramdas Athawale made a mark by winning 2 of its 8 seats in the state.
The JD(U) fielded seven candidates in the Nagaland state assembly elections but managed to win only one constituency.
Apart from political parties, four independent candidates also managed to win seats.
Nagaland Chief Electoral Officer V Shashank Shekhar confirmed the results on Thursday night.
