Kare requested the President to take the initiative to convert the playground located between Zakhama Military Station and the village into a national level facility.
The playground is shared by villagers and army men.
Highlighting the importance of the village, Chief Minister Nephew Ryu said that within the area there is a huge virgin forest in the Jappo range and the second highest mountain peak in the state.
Ryo said that Kaguyama is one of the larger villages and has historical significance as Japanese soldiers were stationed here during World War II and fought the Battle of Kohima.
The annual Hornbill Festival is celebrated from December 1-10 in Kasama, a village that is attended by Naga tribes, tribes from the Northeast and people from all over the world.
He said that the village has won the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Panchayat Sat Vikas Praskar as the best village in 2021.
There are 34 SHGs in the village, mainly women who are doing well in vegetable and fruit cultivation.
The women of Kagwema village performed a folk song in honor of the President. Women’s weaving and other handicrafts were demonstrated by the women.
Before leaving for Kagome, President Murmu visited the Kohima War Cemetery and laid wreaths at the fallen heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice while on duty in and around Kohima during the Second World War. Later she left for a visit to Mizoram.
