Nagaland Police awarded 920 personnel with ASSP Medal.
Kohima: Nagaland Director General of Police (DGP) T John Longkumer on Thursday presented the Antrik Security Seva Padak (ASSP) medal to 920 personnel of the 10th Nagaland Armed Police (Indian Reserve) Battalion.
The ASSP was set up by the Interior Ministry in 2018 for outstanding police personnel during two years of continuous service in the insurgency-affected areas. The 9th NAP (IR) had earlier won the ASSP medal.
The DGP said that due to the achievements of the NAP (IR) Battalion, Nagaland police personnel are known outside the state as ‘Naga Force’.
“Well done (Bravo); you deserve it,” he said, encouraging the police to shine.
Vekhosa Chakhesang, Commandant of the 10th NAP (IR) Battalion, said that a significant deployment of the unit during 2010-12 was for anti-Maoist operations in Porolia, West Bengal, and that it had destroyed a number of strongholds and a significant number.
