KOHIMA: Miss NE, Beauty pageant contestant ‘Miss North East 2022’ raised funds for underprivileged children during a charity sale event in Nagaland on Saturday.

The event was held under the post office in Kohima. Kohima Deputy Commissioner Shanavas C graced the occasion as Chief Guest.
Addressing the gathering before the event, Shanawas said that the North-Eastern region is one of the most neglected regions of the country and needs special attention so that it comes at par with the rest of the regions.

He said that the people of the area should also know that lack of development is not an excuse for corruption.

“As citizens, we have to be very aware. We have to have a vision that we want to grow together with the country and the rest of the world,” he said.
He observed that due to lack of exposure, children in the region do not dream big or dream at all and many people are comfortable where they are.

He encouraged all the participants to continue participating in good events and said that the title they hold means a lot because there are many children who are not so privileged.

He said that we have to help them, take them along, only then this region, state and this country will develop.
Convener of media committee Sara Na Im Konyak said that the charity sale event is an initiative of Miss North East 2022, which was started to help the underprivileged children of Nagaland.

He said that the proceeds of the event will be donated to Medimer’s Fund and Children’s Home. Medimer Fund is a crowd-funded project dedicated to making a difference and empowering children from underprivileged backgrounds with skills and knowledge by financially supporting their education.
“The Medimer Fund was started in 2019 by Annen Lungcher and is now run by a group of dedicated youth. Since its inception, the team has helped many children and youth by helping them in their education,” Konyak said. added.

He also said that beauty pageant is not only a search for physical qualities but the most important quality is compassion and empathy towards fellow citizens as it is the duty of an individual to help those who cannot help themselves.
