KOHIMA: The Eastern Nagaland People’s Organization (ENPO) on Tuesday took out a massive public rally demanding a separate state.
Mass rallies were held in six districts of Nagaland demanding the creation of a separate state of “Frontier Nagaland”.
A large number of people, belonging to the tribes of eastern Nagaland, participated in the rally, which was organized by ENPO.
The ENPO is the apex body of seven tribal organizations in Nagaland’s Mon, Tuensang, Kefir, Longling, Nauklik and Shamathur districts.
ENPO claims that the regions represented by the organization are lagging behind in aspects of development, education and infrastructure.
During the rally, businesses, educational institutions and other offices remained closed in solidarity with ENPO’s demand for a separate state.
People belonging to all schools of thought participated in the rally.
The ENPO representative also submitted memoranda to the Deputy Commissioners of their respective districts on the demand for a separate state.
