Nagaland: The National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN) has demanded the immediate release of all Naga political prisoners of war from the Government of India and Myanmar.
In a press release, the NSCN said that the political conflict between India, Nagalim, and Myanmar has been going on for more than seven decades, making it one of the oldest international conflicts in modern history.
The NSCN also alleged that there were no formal or informal agreements between the Naga people and the British during the occupation of the independent Naga country by the colonial British Empire.
“Similarly, on August 14, 1947, just as the British were about to withdraw from the region, the Nagas declared independence. The sovereignty of all nations must be respected in these circumstances. International law, including the purposes of the United Nations Charter and rules, should be strictly followed,” the release added.
The occupying forces, India and Myanmar must recognize that all countries, big or small, powerful or weak, rich or poor, are equal members of the international community.
India and Myanmar’s approach shaped how the international community viewed the conflict. However, for the Nagas, we are defending our country against forces that are purely Indian and Myanmar invasions and illegal occupations since the colonial British Empire abandoned the Naga homeland.
While India and Myanmar illegally occupied Naga country, they also systematically framed the conflict as an internal issue, making the Nagas’ defense of their country a security threat to their respective countries. Seeing as As a result of the conflict, several Nagas have been detained by the respective governments, most of whom have been arrested under “insurgent”, “terrorist” or “terrorist funding” categories. Mrs. Alemla Jamir, Cabinet Minister of National Socialist Council of Nagalim/Government of People’s Republic of Nagalam/(NSCN/GPRN), for example, was detained by India on 17 December 2019 at the domestic airport (T-1). . in New Delhi and later arrested in a “terrorist funding case” and is in Indian custody.
The self-proclaimed government of People’s Republic of Nagalim also raised several questions for India and the international community asking whether the NSCN/GPRN is a terrorist organization.
“We urge the international community to uphold and defend international justice and fairness, promote equal and uniform application of international law, and reject double standards. We oppose the occupation of Nagalim. do, and the international community should immediately declare India and Myanmar illegal. The occupation in question,” the release said.
The NSCN also called for the international community to promote peace talks, assist India, Nagalim and Myanmar in their conflicts, and create conditions and platforms for the three entities to resume talks or withdraw immediately. Must be committed to prepare. Forces occupying Nagalim.
