GUWAHATI: The Center has asked the Nagaland government to convince the NSCN (IM) to sign the final settlement of the Naga political issue, Minister Neiba Kronu said on Monday.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah told an 11-member delegation of the Nagaland government’s Core Committee on NPI, led by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and Deputy Chief Minister Y. Peyton, during a meeting in Delhi on Monday, according to Kronu.
Kronu said the team submitted a core committee resolution on July 16 and asked Shah to review the contentious issues and find a solution to the problem.
Naga political issue, the committee members also reminded Shah of the BJP’s ‘Election for Solution’ slogan in the 2018 state elections and urged him to address the Naga issue ahead of the next edition of the polls early next year. Work to deliver results.
He said the delegation stressed a clause in the resolution urging the negotiating parties to reach a “mutually acceptable definition of competence” to resolve the disputed issue as soon as possible and to have a “respectable settlement”. , acceptable and comprehensive” final solution.
He said that since the talks had officially concluded on October 31, 2019, the Core Committee has urged Modi and Shah to invite the NSCN (IM) leaders for an early conclusion.
The delegation included United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Chairman TR Zeliang, its Co-Chairman Kozuluzo Nienu, Cabinet Ministers G Kaito Aye, S Pangnyu Phom, Neba Kronu and Tongpang Ozukum, Advisers H Khehovi Yeptho and Phukhayi and MLAs.
