Naga church leader questions 'wrong motivation' on NE Christians

NE Christians

GUWAHATI: The Nagaland Joint NE Christians Forum (NJCF) has observed that the recent formation of the Northeast Christian Forum here has failed to take the church into confidence, and on the contrary, it has failed to address the issues related to the region. Instead, it has created more confusion.
NJCF President Rev. Dr. Zelhou Keyho said “to say the least, it is wrongly motivated and NJCF urges the church to be careful as the church will be divided regionally in the name of the forum. ”
“The NJCF is not part of the North East Christian Forum, which was formed without church leaders in the region.

Although the intention of the formation is not known, one can safely assume that it is a specific group of people. which are not part of any forum in the region,” said Dr Kehoe.

“The NJCF would also like to clarify and place it on record that the North East Christian Forum is not even a part of the United Christian Forum of North East India (UCFNEI),” he said.”The Church should know that the formation of the North East Christian Forum has failed to take the Church into confidence and has created more confusion than solving the relevant problems facing the region. To say the least, it is wrong. is encouraged and the NJCF urges the church to be alert because in the name of the forum, the church will be divided in the region,” said the NJCF president.
Dr Kehu, who is also the general secretary of the Nagaland Baptist Church Council, said, “Individuals cannot create a forum for their religious, socio-political agenda alone. The theme of the forum, “Invitation to Unity”, though beautiful in presentation. is, but can also be divisive in nature. The word “Christian” is used to confuse the area where the church is strong and united.

“Let us be reminded that the Church in this region was recently used as an instrument of false conversion by those who are trying to suppress freedom of religion and the expression of belief,” he said.

“The very mechanism and authority defending the rights of citizens in the region is creating confusion and playing double standard tactics which is really sad,” he added.

“On the occasion of the formation of the forum, they remain silent on the false accusation and what right do they have to create a forum inviting unity?” Dr. Kehoe said.

He added that the UCFNEI, comprising all major religious bodies, has just come out strongly against the “false allegations” of false conversions labeled against the region.
“At this time of uncertainty, the leaders of the region should come clean instead of trying to appease the people with the hidden agenda of the big brothers, who are trying to suppress the diversity of the social and religious fabric of the region.

The strength of the region lies not only in unity and unity but in diversity and respect.

“The people of the North East have always opposed the imposition of value systems, divisive thinking (strategies) and narrow-mindedness which are alien to our collective ethos. We have always believed in harmony, cooperation, warm relations. And our minds have always been inclusive,” UCFNEI previously said.
