Champhai: In a major narcotics operation, the Assam Rifles successfully seized a large quantity of methamphetamine worth Rs 45 crore from a 24-year-old Myanmar national, Kambiaktuang. This action was taken after receiving secret information about smuggling attempt in the area.
Acting on actionable intelligence about a possible drug smuggling operation, the Assam Rifles launched a complex operation in Champhai, a district in the northeastern state of Mizoram, bordering Myanmar. During the operation, a Myanmar national was identified as Kambiaktuang, aged 24.
During a thorough search of the accused, 15 kg of methamphetamine, which is estimated to be 1,50,000 pills, was recovered.
The value of seized drugs is estimated to be Rs 45 crore.
Kambiaktuang, a resident of Haimual, Myanmar, was immediately detained. The accused was handed over to Champhai police station for further legal action and investigation along with the seized drugs.
