Shillong: The Trinamool Congress (TMC) will scrap the border agreement that Meghalaya signed with Assam last year, if it comes to power.
This claim was made by senior TMC leader and former Meghalaya Chief Minister Mukul Sangma.
Mukal Sangma made this claim while addressing a public meeting at Resubelpara in North Garo Hills district of Meghalaya.
“I promise to bring back the land from Assam where our forefathers lived. I promise to give it back to the people after forming the government,” said TMC leader Mukul Sangma from Meghalaya.
Mukal Sangma further criticized the NPP-led Meghalaya government over the pending recruitment of teachers.
He said: “We will bring justice to our treacherous teachers who are living in darkness because of this incompetent government.”
“I can assure you that we will provide opportunities to them and we will fill all available vacancies,” he added.
Meanwhile, TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee organized a grand padyatra at Tura in Meghalaya’s West Garo Hills district.
Polling for the 60-member Meghalaya Legislative Assembly elections will be held in a single phase on February 27.
Counting of votes will take place on March 2.
