MP Gaurav says, PM Modi is no more influential in state elections
Guwahati: In a sharp critique of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s diminishing influence in state elections, Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi has declared that the Prime Minister is no longer a decisive factor in Vidhan Sabha contests. Reflecting on the political landscape, Gogoi remarked, “There was a time when PM Modi would even campaign for Delhi’s municipal elections, but today, his presence has become more of a liability than an asset.”
The Congress leader pointed to the government’s economic policies, which he claims have exacerbated critical issues such as unemployment and inflation across the country. “Due to these failed economic strategies, the problems of joblessness and rising prices have intensified nationwide. This is not a conclusion drawn from just one state election or confined to North India—it is a growing reality across Vidhan Sabha elections in the country,” he stated.
Gogoi also took aim at the BJP’s much-touted “double-engine government,” accusing it of being perpetually off-track and aligned with the interests of large industrialists rather than the public. “Their governance has consistently worked against the welfare of the people,” he added.
Confident about Congress’ future electoral performance, Gogoi predicted that the party’s resurgence would be evident not only in Haryana but also in the upcoming elections nationwide. “You will see the Congress flag flying high in the upcoming elections,” he concluded, setting the stage for what he envisions as a significant political shift in favor of the opposition.
