TURA: Continuing his two-day tour of the Garo Hills region, Union Minister of State John Barla said in Meghalaya that leadership is not chosen to serve the people, but only for oneself.

JJM’s aim was to ease the pain but it seems that it has also The process has not been done properly. The state government has not informed the people what they owe,” Barla alleged.
Barla said that under the PM’s vision, he has been asked to go to every corner of the country to help the cause of development. However, he criticized the current NPP-led government for stopping his visits to the state to assess the situation.
“The state government did not make arrangements for my visit twice before today. They had to take care of the visit, including arranging for a helicopter to come here so we could visit the grassroots. I now I have also come to Tura thrice to implement the PM’s vision.
He also touched upon the old age pension which he alleged was not being provided to those who deserved it.
“We met and listened to people in different areas. People above 60 are still not getting old age pension despite our government providing this facility. Widows are not getting their dues. “Some have got one or two months of pension but the same has not been provided for the last few years. When central government has provided such schemes why are they not getting it? They are just fooling the people. Making it,” asked Barla.
The BJP minister accused the state government of not providing funds to the people despite being provided by the Centre.
“The fault lies with the state government. More than 100 schemes from the centre. We will implement them at the grassroots after coming to power. Our aim is to fulfill the Prime Minister’s dream and ensure all central department schemes in the state. is,” Barla said.
The Union MoS also questioned the award given to the state for JJM when everyone was thirsty for water.
“They have not yet got the freedom to demand water. The people have elected you and it is your duty to fulfill their demands,” asserted Barla.
Talking about the PM-Kisan scheme, Barla said he did not know how the state government was giving Rs 5,000 to farmers while the Center was paying Rs 6,000 annually.
“Perhaps they have taken Rs 1,000 for the upcoming elections to pay the voters. People have understood, and they will respond in the upcoming elections,” Barla said during a press meet.
