DALU: Moromi K Marak, one of the six candidates who had applied for a ticket from the BJP on the Dalu seat, has decided to continue supporting the party and its candidate in the upcoming elections.
Dalu Seat saw PD Sangma, Promod Koch, Bhaskar Hajong, Akki Sangma and Deepak Sangma along with Moromi. The ticket went to Akki Sangma after which Promod Koch, also the local MDC, decided to go it alone as an independent candidate.
In 2018, after being denied a ticket by the same party, Moromi stood as an independent candidate in what turned out to be a very close contest won by NPP’s Brenning Sangma who defeated BJP’s Kurosh Marak.
Dalu is the smallest constituency in the entire state with 22007 voters and is one of the most interesting contests with nine contestants in the fray.
“While I am disappointed with the party’s decision, after meeting my supporters and well-wishers, I have decided to support the party and its candidate to help win the upcoming election,” Moromi said.
The BJP has also included Moromi in the list of campaigners for the party, just to show his importance to the party and his prospects in the Garo Hills region.
He further said that his priority is to work for the people of the constituency for the development of the constituency.
“We have always been neglected in Dalu even though we have MLAs who are with the ruling government. Due to which the area is backward and people are deprived. This has to change for the better in the coming days and That is our target for the future. It is through the BJP that we bring change in the state,” she said.
