Imphal: Manipur Government paid tribute to Manipur Police Officer Chingtham Anandkumar Singh who was killed by Kuki militants on October 31.
A felicitation ceremony was held today at the Manipur Police Memorial at the First MR Parade Ground.
The function was attended by Chief Minister N Biren Singh along with his Cabinet Ministers and some MLAs including Security Adviser Kuldiep Singh. Most of the police officers attended and paid their last respects to the departed soul.
After the felicitation ceremony, the deceased was taken to his residence Kwakeithel Haobam Marak under Imphal West district for last rites.
It may be noted that Moreh’s SDPO Chingtham Anand was shot dead today allegedly by Kuki militants.
Suspected Kuki militants allegedly ambushed the Moreh Police under Moreh Ward No. 7 Eastern Shine School Ground in Tengnoupal District around 9.30 am.
The incident took place when the police team was supervising the cleaning of the ground for the helicopter landing.
After his death, additional forces were sent to Moreh town as reinforcements for the operation against the armed miscreants.
