Guwahati: The Assam Police has continued its crackdown on child marriage in the state.
Assam Police has so far arrested more than 2500 people as part of the crackdown on child marriage.
As part of the crackdown, the Assam Police have arrested a total of 2528 people, including priests and judges.
87 people were arrested on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the affected women protested outside the transit camps in different parts of the state.
Assam DGP GP Singh said that the biggest challenge for the state police now is to file the charge sheet within the stipulated time.
The DGP of Assam said that the role of the police is to completely prevent child marriage in the state.
“We have registered 4,074 cases and over 2,500 people have been arrested. Assam DGP told PTI that all the accused in these cases have been identified and arrested and charged. The sheet will be filed.
