Barpeta: The Assam Police has arrested 11 people who were allegedly involved in the brutal attack on two young women at a dhaba in Barpeta district.
The arrested persons have been identified as Sanidul Islam, Bilal Hussain, Amir Hussain, Alamgir Ali, Akaas Ali, Saqib Hussain, Saddam Hussain, Jahidul Islam, Abul Hussain, Abdul Latif and Raju Ahmed.
The two women were attacked by miscreants for allegedly committing indecent acts on the premises of the dhaba.
The incident took place from a dhaba on National Highway 31 near the Beki river bridge.
Sources said the women were dragged out of the dhaba and verbally abused before being physically assaulted by the mob. Later they broke into the dhaba and ransacked the premises.
Sources said that a customer of the dhaba was also beaten up by the mob.
The young women were fortunately saved by the haste of a few youths. One of them belongs to Rangia, the other lady is a resident of Pathsala.
