Mon massacre: Nagaland police charged 30 Indian Army soldiers. Thirty Indian soldiers, including a major, have been named in a Nagaland police charge sheet against the killing of 14 civilians in Nagaland’s Mon district in December last year. As the Special Investigation Team (SIT) completed its report on the incident, Director General of Police (DGP) Nagaland T. John Loong Kumar on Saturday unveiled the results of the state police investigation into the Mon massacre.
An investigation prior to the charge sheet found that the Special Forces Operations Team did not follow standard operating procedures and engagement rules and resorted to indiscriminate and disproportionate firing, which immediately killed six civilians and injured two more seriously injured.
Addressing a press conference at the Rhododendron Hall of Chomokidema, the police chief said that the SIT had conducted a professional and thorough investigation into the matter.
