Imphal: The Indigenous Tribal Leaders Forum has strongly condemned the molestation of two Kuki-Zo tribal women who were paraded and gang-raped during the inter-ethnic conflict.
In a press release, the ITLF claims that an incident that took place on May 4 in Kongpokpi district showed men repeatedly molesting helpless women, who were crying and shouting at their captors. She was begging.
This comes after a video that went viral on July 19 showed a large crowd gang-raping two Kuki-Zo tribal women naked towards a paddy field.
According to the ITLF, the incident took place when B Phainom village was allegedly burnt down and two people – one middle-aged and the other a youth – were brutally beaten to death by the mob.
“The horrific ordeal these innocent women have been subjected to has been exacerbated by the perpetrators’ decision to share the video, which reveals the identity of the victims, on social media,” notes the release.
Meanwhile, the Local Tribal Leaders’ Forum strongly condemns this heinous act and demands that the central and state governments, the National Commission for Women, and the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes take cognizance of this crime and do all they can to bring justice to the culprits. Take the necessary steps.
